The West Wind (newspaper)

"The West Wind" is Cranston High School West's award-winning, student-produced newspaper. It features 8 issues per school year, one for each month, though September and October are combined into one issue, as well as May and June. The paper is edited and designed using the Adobe product, In-Design. The paper has earned awards from Rhode Island's most-read newspaper, the Providence Journal as well as the New England Scholastic Press Association. Most recently, it is listed as the second best high school newspaper in the state of Rhode Island by the Providence Journal.
Advised by Mr. Gay Jones, the paper's current executive officers are:

*Junior Editor-in-Chief Ashley Rimay (grade 11),
*Sports Editor Anthony Mancini (grade 12)

The West Watch

"The West Watch" is West's online news broadcast. This particular medium houses stories originally written in "the West Wind" that are converted into video broadcasts, combining the school's media program's writers and viedographers. Created in 2005, "the West Watch" received a first place award as best broadcast at the NESPA conference. In addition, it also won several individual achievement awards.
