"Lucky Numbers" is a 2000 comedy film written by Adam Resnick, directed by Nora Ephron, and starring John Travolta, Lisa Kudrow, Tim Roth, Ed O'Neill, Michael Rapaport, Bill Pullman, Michael Moore and Chuck Rhodes. The film is loosely based on the Pennsylvania Lottery fix of 1980. The film was shot at various locations in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Plot

Russ Richards (John Travolta) is a weatherman for a local TV station in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, renowned and worshipped by his fellow viewers as something of a local celebrity. His friend Jack (Colin Mochrie) has a table reserved for him every day at Denny's Restaurant, which he refers to as Harrisburg's "trendiest bistro". But while Russ seems cheery and dignified on the outside, inside Russ is in dire straits. He's got an ailing snowmobile business that's on the verge of bankruptcy because of an unusually warm winter, that could swallow him whole and tarnish his reputation. But thanks to the likes of his friend Gig (Tim Roth), a shady strip club owner has hatched the plan of a lifetime: rig the state lottery that's worth millions. With the assistance of his lottery presenter girlfriend (Lisa Kudrow), and her oddball cousin (Michael Moore in a rare acting role), Russ is about to hatch the plan that could make or break him. That is until the bodies start piling up and people start to notice, especially the station's greedy manager (Ed O'Neill) and a lazy police officer (Bill Pullman) who starts his own investigation into the matter. Russ may have a lot more to worry than just his reputation, but his life.
