Swedish prohibition referendum, 1922

A referendum on prohibition of alcohol was held in Sweden on the August 27, 1922.

The voter turnout was 55.1%, and the suggestion failed by 51% against 49%.

There was plenty of campaigning from both sides, the most remembered poster being designed by artist Albert Engström, with the famous quote "Kräftor kräva dessa drycker" ("crayfish require these drinks").
