Carrie Bickmore is an Australian radio newsreader and television personality.

Personal life

Bickmore was born in Adelaide, South Australia, but moved to Perth, Western Australia with her family at a young age. [Fewster, Sean, [ Roving around for new style of news] , "The Advertiser" 17 May, 2006] She studied journalism at Curtin University of Technology from 1998 to 2000. After a long-running relationship with magazine designer Wayne Smith, Carrie is now married to Greg Lange. Carrie gave birth to a boy, Oliver, on 4 September 2007.

Bickmore started her career as the afternoon newsreader for Melbourne radio station Nova 100 and in 2002 she became co-host of Nova's drive show. She was a 2005 Best News Presenter finalist in the Australian Commercial Radio Awards. [Media Release, [ Finalists announced for 2005 Radio Awards] , 26 July 2005] Bickmore and Rebecca Leahy accepted the award for Best Community Service Project - Metro, on behalf of Nova 100. [ [ 2005 ACRAS Winners Photo Gallery] , Commercial Radio Australia Limited, May, 2006] In 2007, Bickmore was appointed the breakfast newsreader on "Hughesy & Kate" on Nova 100.

In 2006 Bickmore made her foray into television on variety show "Rove Live", presenting the Carrie @ the News Desk segment for each episode. Her voice, behaviour and appearance for this segment were a parody of Channel Ten newsreader Sandra Sully. Often the news stories relate to actual events, but end in a twist as the punch line. A running joke throughout the segment is Carrie's quirky introductions in which she adds a quip, often playing off of social trends, music and popular culture. In 2007, Bickmore returned to the show with a more important role. While she still stars in the news segment, it is no longer done as a Sandra Sully parody.

Bickmore is the regular presenter on "Skybus TV", a tourism information video about Melbourne that is played to all passengers travelling on "Skybus", the main public transport service between Melbourne Airport and the CBD. [ [ THE SHOW - Rove Daily] ]
