George Henry Charles Byng, 3rd Earl of Strafford (22 February 1830 – 28 March 1898) was a British Liberal Party politician, known as Viscount Enfield from 1860–1886.
Byng was the eldest son of the 2nd Earl of Strafford and his wife, Agnes, a daughter of the 1st Marquess of Anglesey. He was educated at Eton and graduated from Christ Church, Oxford in 1852. That year, he entered Parliament as MP for Tavistock, a seat he held until 1857, when he became MP for Middlesex. During this time, he was also Parliamentary Secretary to the Poor Law Board from 1865–66 and Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs from 1871-74. Throughout his political career, Lord Enfield was also served with the Middlesex Militia.
He was the first serving twice between 1866–1876 and 1877–1898.
In 1874, Lord Enfield left the Commons when he was called up to the House of Lords in his father's barony of Strafford. He was briefly a Lord-in-Waiting in 1880, Under-Secretary of State for India from 1880-83, First Civil Service Commissioner from 1880-88 and Lord Lieutenant of Middlesex from 1884-88. On 25 July 1854, he had married Lady Alice Egerton (the eldest daughter of the 1st Earl of Ellesmere). He inherited his father's earldom in 1886 and dying childless in 1898, his titles passed to his brother, Henry.
