Ross Symonds

Ross Symonds (born 6 January 1942) is a former news presenter for the Seven Network in Sydney from the 1970s until the early 2000s.

Symonds began his career with ABC Radio in Brisbane in his teenage years, and then went to Sydney with ABC radio and television to become ABC's Senior National News Presenter. After 12 years in the position, Symonds joined Channel Seven in Sydney as the station's main news presenter. He was paired with Ann Sanders on both "Seven Nightly News" and Seven's news program "11AM", on which he was the featured news reader for much of the program's life. Symonds read his last Seven News bulletin on December 5 2003, alongside Ann Sanders. They had read together since 1998, however failed to make an impact in the strong Sydney market. Symonds then worked as a casual news reader at Radio 2 in Sydney in 2005. The station closed its operations at Homebush in 2006.

Symonds has won the Better Hearing Australia News Presenters' Clear Speech Award nine times, [ [http://www.betterhearingsydney.org.au/content/view/67/58/ Better Hearing Sydney] ] as well as Best Metropolitan News Presenter.

In 2007 he joined a real estate firm on Sydney's Upper North Shore. ["North Shore Times" (11 May 2007): p.129]
