FK Mladost Apatin (Serbian Cyrillic: ФK Mлaдocт Апaтин) is a football club from Apatin, Serbia.

History

The club was founded in 1928, then known by the name of Tri Zvezde (Three stars). In 1950, the club changes its name to Mladost (The Youth). Team colour is red. Mladost plays home games at Sportski Centar Rade Svilar (Sports center "Rade Svilar"), holding 7,000 seats. It is a complex with six courts, named after Rade Svilar, manager of Apatinska pivara, who gave financial support to the club. For a long period of time, Mladost was playing in regional leagues of Yugoslavia. Soon after the breakup of Yugoslavia, Mladost became more significant in Serbian football, and the club got its first major sponsor, Apatinska pivara (Apatin Brewery). In 1996 Mladost was promoted to the Second Yugoslav league, and in 2003 to the First league of Serbia and Montenegro. Mladost played only one year in the First league, and the club was relegated back to Prva Liga Telekom Srbija. Two years later, in 2006, Mladost finished second in Prva Liga Telekom Srbija and in the 2006-2007 season they played in the Serbian Superliga, finishing 6th despite horrible results in the second half of the season. In July 2007, Mladost Apatin officially announced they were withdrawing from the next season due to being unable to bear the financial burden of playing in a top division. It was announced on July 19, 2007, that Napredak Kruševac would replace them.
