Stephanie Kulp Seymour

Stephanie Kulp Seymour (born 1940 in Battle Creek, Michigan) is a Senior Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Seymour was nominated to the Tenth Circuit by President Jimmy Carter on August 28 1979, to a new seat created by Congress. She was confirmed by the United States Senate on October 31, 1979. Seymour served as Chief Judge of the Tenth Circuit from 1994-2000. Judge Seymour was the first woman judge on the Tenth Circuit and also the first woman Chief Judge of the circuit. Seymour received a B.A. from Smith College in 1962, and her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1965. Prior to joining the federal bench, Seymour was in private practice for fifteen years in Boston, Houston, and Tulsa.
