Cuppa Coffee Studio

Cuppa Coffee Studio (a.k.a. Cuppa Coffee Animation) is a Canadian animation studio in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; it was founded by Adam Shaheen and Bruce Alcock (who left in 1995) in December 1990. It specializes in both stop-motion animation and 3D animation as well as 2D animation.

Cuppa Coffee Studio has produced for networks around the globe including Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, CBC, HBO, ABC, MTV, Noggin, Cartoon Network and MuchMusic, among others.

In 1997, Cuppa Coffee let Steve Angel and Julian Grey (who worked at that studio for 5 years) make their own studio with Nick Fairhead, Head Gear Animation, and still own it to this day. Currently the studio works on motion graphics, while Cuppa Coffee does TV series & less graphics.

Cuppa Coffee Studios has won many international awards in animation, such as the Pucinella Award for Best Special in 2006 and the Prix D'honeur at Annecy.

Head-Gear Animation

Head Gear Animation was founded in 1997 as a division of Cuppa Coffee Animation by creative partners Steve Angel and Julian Grey. Conceived as a small animation shop that provided clever alternatives to purely traditional animation or computer graphics. It has since evolved into a dynamic studio offering everything from stop-motion, 2D, cel and claymation to mixed media and live action.

Head Gear’s strength has always been its directors, who, with their disparate backgrounds and talents, continually push the boundaries of visual communication, offering fresh and unique approaches to their varied clients.

Head Gear has created work for a range of commercial and broadcast clients that include Oreo, YMCA, Cheerios, Walmart, Sesame Street, MTV, Nickelodeon, Procter & Gamble and Cranium. It has produced commercials and network ID's as well as short films and promos.

Head Gear produces work in all short formats and has garnered over 50 top awards at such prestigious competitions as The One Show, AICP, The London International Advertising Awards, ADCC, The BDAs, The Bessies, Mobius Applied Arts, Ottawa Animation Festival and the Holland Animation Festival.
