History

Edipresse began its operations in January 1907, as Société de la Feuille d'Avis de Lausanne et des Imprimeries Réunies S.A. (known today as 24 heures-Imprimeries Réunies S.A.), publisher of two daily newspapers, the "Feuille d'Avis de Lausanne" (established in 1762), and the "Tribune de Lausanne" (established in 1893) and was the owner of a printing plant. It later joined forces with printer Lousonna S.A..

In 1982, Feuille d'Avis de Lausanne became independent from Lousonna S.A.

The holding company, Edipresse S.A., was created in 1988 in order to regroup the various business activities under the Edipresse Group name.

The 1990s were marked by expansion abroad: into Spain in 1990, Portugal in 1992, Poland in 1995, Greece and Romania in 1998. In 2000, Ukraine, Mexico in 2001, Russia in 2003, seven countries in Asia in 2005 and France in 2006.

Today, the Edipresse Group publishes more than 160 titles, including newspapers and magazines, in Switzerland and abroad.

Print Facilities

Edipresse operates different printing plants in Switzerland. The Edipresse-Lausanne Printing Centre and the Edipresse-Geneva Printing Centre are both specialised in the printing of daily newspapers and periodic publications. Benefiting from the most modern installations, the Lausanne centre prints the three daily newspapers "24 heures", "Le Matin" and "La Tribune de Genève", or more than 200,000 daily copies with an average length of 140 pages. The Sunday edition of "Le Matin" alone, amounts to over 200,000 copies.

The Geneva printing centre, located in the suburbs of the city, uses an offset rotary printing machine to produce the newspaper Le Temps, Le Matin Bleu, and several other periodic publications. As for the Imprimeries Réunies Lausanne, the quality of their work is used as a point of reference for editors, artists and advertisers. The plant is built on know-how which is demonstrated by the most demanding creations: books and art reviews, catalogues of large exhibitions, advertisements for luxury items. The skills developed in these areas are put to use on a diversified range of production - from the high-circulation magazine to the small item of printed matter - and are dynamically managed in a highly competitive sector on the international scale.

Finally, the last to arrive in the Edipresse Group was I-Press printing plant in Montreux. It possesses state-of-the-art printing machines that allow it to continuously improve the quality-to-price ratio of its services.
