Choroní Beach is a popular beach located in Aragua, Venezuela. Its proper name is Playa Grande, but because of its proximity to the colonial village of Choroní, it is often referred to as Choroní Beach.

It is about two hours drive from the city of Maracay, on a road built by the Venezuelan dictator Juan Vicente Gómez which goes over the cloud forest mountains of the Henri Pittier National Park before descending to the sea.

Choroni is a beautiful colonial town in the Aragua State coast. To get to it, you have to drive by the Henry Pittier National Park from Maracay city in a rain forest road with Araguato monkeys, 550 kind of birds, big ferns and an amazing jungle to get one of the most famous town of the coast of Venezuela: Choroni.

Choroni is famous world for the quality of its cocoa. Spain brought many slaves from Africa, which created a unique mix of Caribbean music and Spanish music enjoyed here.

Choroni town was created in 1616 that you can see in our colonial architecture.

Choroni is the gate to get by car to many beautiful beaches with warm and crystal water

Choroni has a main Beach: PLAYA GRANDE that you can get by car.

From our sea front, you can take boats to get many beautiful beaches to enjoy the sun and palm trees.

Valle Seco: just 15 minutes to get it (to the west of Choroni/Puerto Colombia) by boat.

Valle Seco means “dry valley” with a wonderful coral reef that Works like a sea front to make a natural big pool. Perfect for children !!

CHUAO: Very calm bahia (just 20 minutes from Choroni) and starting point to go to the famous Chuao town that you can get by car in just 10 minutes or 1 hour walking. Also you can get beautiful river pools and the famous 80 meters river fall “el chorreron”

CEPE: Very beautiful Beach with calm and crystal water (30 minutes from Choroni) Excellent for snorkeling or scuba diving. Also you can visit CEPE town just 25 minutes walking from the Beach. Its a very small town like a “toy village”. You can see “petroglifos” made by Indian “Araguacos” and “Tacarigua” HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

TUJAS: If you look for more adventure, you can visit it. No service and beautiful river. 40 minutes from Choroni.

To the West side: EL DIARIO: Located in our Hacienda El Portete just 15 minutes by boat, or 30 minutes walking from our hotel. Its a beautiful Beach of just 120 meters of shore. Biside other twin beach.

Aroa: With less visitors but is another good choice.

URICAO: Its a PARADISE with crystal water and a small coral reef to the west side.

LA CIENEGA: Beautiful bay to visit.

Choroni is very special because cobine beaches, tropical jungle, mountains and beautiful river pools with falls, tobagons, nice trips to see tropical flowers. Choroni have more than 550 kind of birds. It means more than all Europe in just 100.000 hectares.

Its not only the beaches, Rivers, jungle and colonial town. You also can enjoy the hospitality of the people and the rhythms of the drums and dance. You can see the drums at the sea front.
