Ovalhouse formerly called Oval House Theatre is an Off-Westend theatre led by joint Directors of Theatre Rebecca Atkinson-Lord and Rachel Briscoe in the London Borough of Lambeth. Renowned for its work with marginalised artists, Ovalhouse attracts an extremely diverse audience from across London.

Formed of two theatre spaces, the Theatre Downstairs (up to 200 seats) and the Theatre Upstairs (70 seats), Ovalhouse also has a cafe-bar, gallery space and four rehearsal rooms available for public hire. Since 2011, the cafe-bar has also been used as a venue for regular live-music and spoken word events as part of the artistic programme.

In addition to the professional theatre programme, Ovalhouse has a sector-leading Participation and Youth Arts department [1] working with young people and vulnerable adults. The Ovalhouse 33% London programme offers an alternative route into professional theatre practice for aspiring artists aged 18-25. [2]

Founded in the 1930s by graduates of Christ Church College Oxford, notable artists who began their careers at Oval House Theatre include Howard Brenton, Pierce Brosnan, Stella Duffy, Tamsin Greig, David Hare (who worked at the theatre as a Stage Manager) and Tim Roth.
