Ellsworth Van Graafeiland

Ellsworth A. Van Graafeiland (May 15, 1914 - November 20, 2004) was a longtime federal appellate judge in the United States.

Van Graafeiland attended the University of Rochester and Cornell Law School. He was a lawyer in private practice in Rochester, New York from 1940 to 1974.

In 1974, President Gerald R. Ford nominated Van Graafeiland to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the federal appeals court based in New York City. Van Graafeiland took office on December 20, 1974. He assumed senior status in 1985 but continued hearing cases as a member of the Court until his death in 2004.
