St. Louis Community College is the Missouri two-year college supported by the Junior College District of St. Louis City – St. Louis County. The three original campuses were built simultaneously in 1964: Florissant Valley (in Ferguson), Forest Park (in St. Louis), and Meramec (in Kirkwood). A fourth campus, Wildwood (in Wildwood) opened in August 2007. In addition, there are four satellite facilities throughout the area. The college grants Associate of Arts (A.A.) and Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees, as well as Certificates of Proficiency (for completing a specified one-year course of study) and Certificates of Specialization (for completing a specified six-month course of study).

The three campuses were originally known as "Florissant Valley Community College", "Forest Park Community College", and "Meramec Community College". The name change to "St. Louis Community College–Campus Name" was adopted by college district administration over the objections of the student body and faculty in 1976. TLCC-Florissant Valley

The school is also known as Florissant Valley Community College or simply Flo Valley. The campus is located on convert|108|acre|km2 of hilly wooded area of in north St. Louis County just off of Interstate 270. Over 6,000 students attend Florissant Valley.

Notable Programs

FV is the major Art and Theatre campus in the STLCC system. Students can get Associate in Applied Science (AAS)Degrees in Graphic Communications or Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) Degrees in in General Fine Arts, Graphic Communications, Art Education and Photography. Students also have the option of starting a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree then transferring to University of Missouri-St. Louis.The Fischer Theatre serves as the hub of the Theatre program at FVCC. The campus is also known for engineering, technology, and chemical technology programs.

FV Athletics

Florissant Valley fields 9 sports and competes in the Midwest Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC). FVCC holds 13 NJCAA Championships, 10 of which are in Men's soccer. TLCC-Forest Park

The Forest Park campus is an urban campus with about 6,000 students. The campus is located next to I-64/U.S. Route 40 in the Forest Park area of St. Louis, MO. The campus is also close to two MetroLink Light rail stations at Forest Park-DeBaliviere and Central West End

Notable Programs

STLCC-FP is known for health care. Major programs at FP include Associate in Applied Science Degrees including: Radiologic Technology, Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting, Respiratory Therapy and Polysomnography, and Clinical Laboratory Technology. Forest Park also has a number of construction related degrees including: Automotive Technology, Building Inspection & Code Enforcement Technology, Plumbing Design Engineering Technology, and Fire Protection Technology.

TLCC-Meramec

STLCC-Meramec campus is located in the suburb of Kirkwood, MO. Meramec is the largest Community College in Missouri with over 12,000 undergraduate and transfer students. The college is named after the Meramec River that meanders through central Missouri before emptying into the Mississippi River in Southern St Louis County.

History

St. Joseph College opened in 1889 on the site of the present day STLCC-Meramec campus The school was a small private catholic college from 1889 until the early 1960s. Notable Programs

Meramec has many programs of study and offers a wide variety of Associate degrees, some of the most popular being Business, Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain Management, and Education. Meramec Athletics

Meramec Athletics fields 9 teams "(not including co-ed cheerleading)"; 8 teams compete in the Midwest Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC). Meramec is the only STLCC school that has Roller Hockey. Men's Roller Hockey fields two teams in the Division III and B Division (JV) of Great Plains Collegiate Inline Hockey League part of the NCRHA. The team's biggest rivalry is St. Charles Community College, as the two schools are separated only by a 15-20 minute drive.

TLCC-Wildwood

The STLCC-Wildwood campus is the newest campus in the STLCC system. The campus is located in Wildwood, Missouri, a western suburb of St Louis, Missouri in an area known as west St. Louis County. The college opened in August 2007. The Wildwood campus was created because of the rapidly growing population of west St. Louis County and to relieve some of the pressures from STLCC-Meramec's 12-13,000 student population. The Wildwood campus is located off Route 109 and Route 100 in West St. Louis County. Wildwood is state-of-the-art; it the first Green campus in Missouri built with environmentally friendly materials. STLCC-WW is also tobacco-free, not only in the buildings but on all campus property.

Notable Programs

Wildwood currently offers Associate degrees in three areas of study: General Transfer Studies, Business Administration, and Teaching. Beginning in the Spring 2008 semester UM-St Louis will offer classes at Wildwood for students to begin taking classes at Wildwood and then make an easy transfer after the second year into the main UMSL campus.
