James P. Fitch

James P. Fitch

James P. Fitch was a Scouting notable in the early history of the Boy Scouts of America and author of "Songs Scouts Sing," (September 1935). Fitch was Region Scout Executive for Region Nine (Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico) from 1920 to 1945 when he became General Manager of Philmont Scout Ranch and Phillips Properties for the BSA.

"Songs Scouts Sing," and the handwritten version of the Worth Ranch Grace are in the possession of Pete Normand of College Station, Texas. Normand is the son-in-law of Fitch's only son, William D. Fitch.

Fitch was the Southern Methodist University advisor for the Alpha Omicron chapter of Alpha Phi Omega. ["Torch and Trefoil." May, 1935. Vol. 10, No. 1. p. 11.]
