Although released in 1981, Sting had written this song as early as 1976. A very early (1977) acoustic version of this song performed by him can be heard on the Strontium 90 album "".

Sting added this bit of "Every Little Thing..." lyrics to the end of "O My God" on the Police's 1983 release "Synchronicity":

"Do I have to tell the story
Of a thousand rainy days
Since we first met?
It's a big enough umbrella
But it's always me that ends up getting wet."

These lyrics were later reused once more in Sting's "Seven Days" on his solo album "Ten Summoner's Tales".

The piano part was added by session keyboardist Jean Roussel who pestered the band to allow him to play on the track, against Andy Summers' original wishes.

The song appears on the game Karaoke Revolution Party.

The American rock band Ra covered it on their 2005 album "Duality".

"Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" was performed by the fictional band Scrantonicity on the episode of "The Office" entitled "Phyllis' Wedding", with lead vocals by the character Karen, who is played by Rashida Jones.

John Mayer included the first few lines of the song while playing his hit "Your Body is a Wonderland" on the live compilation "Live at the X Lounge IV".

American soul pianist John Legend borrowed the instrumentation from the verses on his collaboration, "Around My Way" with Brooklyn MC Talib Kweli.

Warcraft II, a computer game produced by Blizzard Entertainment, used the title of this song as a cheat code.
