Power Stream

PowerStream is the primary electricity provider in Vaughan, Ontario, Markham, Ontario, Richmond Hill, Ontario, and Aurora, Ontario and is owned by the city of Vaughan, and the town of Markham.

It was formed as a result of the merger of Markham Hydro, Hydro Vaughan, and Richmond Hill Hydro that took place in 2004. Since the merger, PowerStream has also gained distribution territory in Aurora after absorbing Aurora Hydro.

Electricity is provided Ontario Power Generation via Hydro One from various GTA power plants.

PowerStream is the third largest local electricity distribution company (LDC) in Ontario, delivering power to more than 240,000 residential and business customers in the municipalities of Aurora, Markham, Richmond Hill and Vaughan.

It is an incorporated entity, jointly owned by the City of Vaughan and the Town of Markham.The company is committed to providing its customers with safe, reliable and efficient service. They achieve this goal by focusing on operational efficiencies and procedures in order to minimize overhead costs and maximize the use of company assets.
