Saint Wenna

Saint Wenna

Saint Wenna (died 18 October 544) was a Cornish saint and probably a Cornish queen.

She was the foundress of the churches of St Wenn and Morval in Cornwall, but her exact identity is uncertain. She may have been:
*The lady of that name listed as one of the many daughters of King Brychan of Brycheiniog in Wales who helped evangelise Cornwall.
*The lady known in Wales as Gwen ferch Cynyr, the daughter of Lord Cynyr Ceinfarfog of Caer Goch in Pembrokshire. She married King Salomon of Cornwall and became the mother of Saint Cybi. She was also the aunt of Saint David.
