Athletics

In Athletics, Central Catholic has a long and storied tradition. Their nickname is the Fighting Irish. The Irish were given a new facility in the fall of 1997 with the opening of the brand new Sullivan Center, a state of the art high school gymnasium.

They are a member of the Toledo City League. The biggest rivals for the Irish include fellow parochial schools St. John's Jesuit, St. Ursula Academy, Notre Dame Academy, and St. Francis de Sales.

Other rivalries include the Scott, Start, and Whitmer.

The Gallagher Athletic Complex was completed on September 27 for the 2007 football season. The Fighting Irish played in their new home stadium on September 28 against Start High School.

CCHS has won the Ohio High School Athletic Association state championships four times. In 1997, the boy's track and field won, cite web|url=http://www.ohsaa.org/|title=Ohio High School Athletic Association Web site|accessdate=2006-12-31|author=OHSAA] , the football team won in both 1962 and 2005,cite web|url=http://www.yappi.com/football/StateChamps.html|title=Yappi Sports Football|accessdate=2007-02-12|author=Yappi] and the women's volleyball Team won their first state title on November 10, 2007.
