Schooner Delawana

Schooner Delawana

The fishing schooner "Delawana" represented Canada in the first International Fishing Schooner Championship races in 1920. The captain of the Delawana during those races was Thomas Himmelman. On 11 October 1920, "Delawana" defeated the schooner "Gilbert B. Walters", sailed by Captain Angus Walters, when the topmast of the "Gilbert B. Walters" broke during the race.

"Delawana" then lost in two straight races to the Gloucester fishing schooner "Esperanto" under Captain Marty Welch.
