Choker
A black ribbon used as a choker

A choker is a close-fitting necklace, worn high on the neck. This type of jewellery can consist of one or more bands circling the neck. Chokers can be made of a variety of materials, including velvet, plastic, beads, metal, and leather. They are often adorned in a variety of ways, including with sequins, studs, a pendant, or a cameo. Chokers can be made out of any kind of fabric, by stitching two rectangles of fabric together and then sewing on some velcro. It may be one or more bands encircling the neck which are made from inexpensive and semiprecious materials. In earlier times, choker sets were worn by people during ceremonies to display their wealth and rank. Traditionally every material that was used to make the choker sets had a religious and social significance though now they just have an ornamental value. These function as flashy but less expensive jewellery & therefore are very much in vogue.

Chokers are useful for calling attention to a slim and attractive neck, and perhaps for calling attention away from deficits elsewhere. Choker sets can also be used to make more forceful fashion statements. Leather choker sets studded with metal can imply that one is nobody’s victim. Choker sets can be the perfect necklace choice for prom or any other special occasion. Choker sets come with distinct designs and finishes & each differ as per their usages & the different occasions they are meant for. Varying from crystal choker sets to semiprecious gem chokers, from embroidered leather choker sets, to beaded and metallic chokers sets, these handmade jewellery items are often stringed together with beads, stones and shells & a set of other embellishing materials to impart a unique design to each item. These are chic and trendy & often gold plated that comes with finishes like oxidized or matte finish, Unlike other gothic necklaces these now are worn by most people and was centered on gothic till the late 1900's when other types started to expand the trend.
