Emeritus Corporation (amex|ESC) is a retirement home company based in Seattle, Washington. The company runs assisted living homes for people who may need some help with daily activities but don't need skilled nursing care (offered at a few of its properties). Emeritus Corporation owns or manages more than 180 communities in 35 states. The company's services are divided into three major categories: basic services, assisted living services, and services for residents with Alzheimer's disease.

History

*1993- Founded as "Assisted Living of America" in Renton, Washington by Daniel Baty, Ray Brandstrom and Frank Ruffo.
*1995- The company changes its name to Emeritus Corporation. Emeritus goes public on the American Stock Exchange.
