Sean Moore (musician)

Sean Anthony Moore is the writer, drummer/percussionist and sometime trumpet player of the Welsh rock band Manic Street Preachers.

Early Years

Born on July 30 1968 in Pontypool, Monmouthshire, he attended the local Oakdale Comprehensive in Blackwood with his cousin James Dean Bradfield, and other future band members Nicky Wire and Richey James Edwards.

Personal life

Moore is a fan of Liverpool F.C. & Michael Schumacher. He has been married to his wife Rhian since 2000 and they live with their daughter Matilda Poppy and son Felix Philip Oscar Moore.

Roles in the Band

To quote Manic Street Preachers biography Everything (A Book About Manic Street Preachers), "Sean Moore is quite possibly the only person in rock who doesn't take the Manics seriously". He is the most quiet of the Manics, but according to his band mates their "musical driving force". In their early days, he was often mistaken for a girl due to his appearance. He is the only current member of the Manic Street Preachers who has not released a solo album.

It is well known to his band mates (and fans) that Moore is a shopaholic, and whenever the band tours, he frequently leaves with a lot more luggage than he arrived with.

Driving

Moore also has a strong interest in motoring, and set the 22nd fastest lap time around the Nurburging, Germany. He completed the lap in an Audi RS4 in 8 minutes 25 seconds. Manics singer James Dean Bradfield mentioned this before Motown Junk as part of the annual Rock AM Ring festival at the track.
