Kelling is a small village (pop 170 in 2004 [http://www.norfolk.gov.uk/consumption/groups/public/documents/general_resources/ncc041970.pdf] ), which had a reputation for smuggling. There is a small Victorian school house built in 1876 and opened October

Kelling village is 1 km from the coast which is accessed via a road used as a public path (RUPP). The coastline at Kelling along withWeybourne andSalthouse was important as a strategic defence during the Second World War.
