Grassholm (Welsh: "Gwales" or "Ynys Gwales") is a small, uninhabited
island situated 13 km / 8 miles off the southwestPembrokeshire coast inWales , lying west ofSkomer . It is the westernmost part of Wales and is known for its huge colony of gannets. Grassholm has been owned since 1947 by theRoyal Society for the Protection of Birds , and was the first reserve the Society ever bought.
