Michael Golden (businessman)

Michael Golden was elected to the Board of Directors of The New York Times Company in 1997.[1]

Golden was named publisher of the International Herald Tribune in November 2003. He retains his position as vice chairman of The New York Times Company, which he has held since 1997. Before that he served as vice president for operations development from 1996 to 1997.

Golden was executive vice president and publisher at the company's Tennis magazine from 1994 to 1996. Prior to that, he served as executive vice president and general manager of the company's Women's Publishing Division from 1991 to 1994; publisher of McCall's magazine from 1990 to 1991; and general manager of Child magazine from 1988 to 1990. The Times Company sold its Women's Publishing Division in 1994.

From 1986 to 1988, Golden served as senior vice president of The Retail Magazine Marketing Company, which was the Company's magazine distributor. Previously, he served as production manager of Family Circle since joining the company in 1984.

Prior to joining The Times Company, Golden worked for eight years in a series of editorial and management posts at The Chattanooga (Tenn.) Times.

Golden is a 1971 graduate of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA.
