Lieser is a village in the rural district of Bernkastel-Wittlich in the vicinity of the town of Bernkastel-Kues. The village was named by the stream Lieser which flows into the river Mosel near the village.

Coat of Arms

The coat of arms of the wine village is subdivided into three parts:
*Two keys: The two keys in the left third of the coat of arms represent Lieser's two churches. One key represents the ancient church of St. Paul, which is located outside of the village in the vineyards at the edge of the forest, and the other represents the church of St. Peter which is located in the centre of the village.
*Vine: The vine in the right third of the coat of arms stands for viticulture, which has always been of big importance.
*Post horn: The post_horn in the lower third of the coat of arms stands for the so called "Posthof" (ancient postal office) in Lieser, which was used as postal station of the dynasty Thurn und Taxis from 1516 until 1728.
