Jihadi is a political neologism referring to an individual who participates in advancing Jihad.Fact|date=March 2008

The term is occasionally used to refer to anyone who engages in a zealous and persistent pursuit.Dubious|date=March 2008

The correct Arabic term for one who engages in Jihad is "Mujahid" (plural is Mujahideen).The formation of "Jihadi" from "Jihad" may be based on the example of the word-final -iwhich refers to place of origin such as "Saudi", "Pakistani", "Afghani," "Israeli," or "Misri" (from Egypt or Misr).Dubious|date=March 2008
