Amrik Singh on June 10 in Durgapur, West Bengal known by his stage name Mika is an Indian Pop singer and Rapper. He is considered a highly acclaimed Punjabi singer. He has done songs for many Bollywood films, which include Singh Is Kinng and Jab We Met. His range as a playback singer is limited, but commercially he is successful with hit songs. The latest is "Desi Beat" from the film Bodyguard. He has participated in reality show called Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao and Music Ka Maha Muqabala. He is also in media due to controversies.

Early Life

Mika was born at Durgapur, West Bengal and brought up in Patna, Bihar along with his brother Daler Mehandi.His father, Ajmer Singh Chandan, is a trained classical musician of the old school. His mother, Balbir Kaur, was also aware of folk music. He is the youngest brother of the six brothers. The names are as follows (from eldest to youngest): Shamsher Mehndi, Amarjeet Mehndi, Daler Mehndi, Harjeet Mehndi, Joginder Singh and Mika Singh

Career

Mika is a team captain, judge, and mentor for STAR Plus's Music Ka Maha Muqqabla for the team Mika's Blasters.

He has completed the film Mitti and composed its music.

Mika worked with California based Bohemia for Universal Music's ‘Sher e Punjab’.^[2]

Live concerts

Mika is known for his large audiences at shows, once even as large as 90,000 people.^[1] He was set to release his fifth studio album in 2008 which was highly anticipated due to the involvement of Vikas Kohli and the work done at the Fatlabs studio in Canada.

Media controversy

Singh gained much media attention for his somewhat forcible kiss with Rakhi Sawant in June 2006 during his birthday party. Shortly thereafter, a man who had accompanied Sawant to the party was allegedly beaten when he protested what had happened. Afterward, Rakhi Sawant filed a molestation suit against Mika. She also approached the National Commission for Women (NCW) with a complaint of sexual assault against Mika. He came to the USA in 2010 and in Chicago in April.^[4][5][6] On Jubilee Comedy Circus Rakhi Sawant forgave Mika for what happened and let bygones be bygones
