- Punt and Dennis
Punt and Dennis are a
comedy double act consisting ofSteve Punt andHugh Dennis . Together they are the modern workhorses ofBritish comedy ; Punt in particular has a very long list of writing credits. They shot to public attention as one half of "
The Mary Whitehouse Experience ", a popular and acclaimed sketch andmonologue show onBBC Radio 1 which then transferred totelevision .However, whilst the other half of the team, Rob Newman and
David Baddiel went on to play the largest comedy gig ever at Wembley Arena, the less glamorous Punt and Dennis were not invited to the ball. Their own TV series, "The Imaginatively Titled Punt and Dennis Show ", was never as popular as "The Mary Whitehouse Experience", though it got higher audiences and a better slot than the other pairing's spin-off project "Newman and Baddiel in Pieces ", which led to their acrimonious separation as a partnership ofNewman and Baddiel .Punt and Dennis worked on
Jasper Carrott 's shows for many years, where they performed short sketches. They also supported him on tour. They currently have a successful and long running satirical series called "
The Now Show " running onBBC Radio 4 as well as a weekly round-up show on Radio 2, "It's Been a Bad Week " and writing radio sitcom "The Party Line".Since then, Punt and Dennis have been recently working in front and behind the scenes of the BBC satirical panel show; "
Mock The Week ". Punt was a writer behind the scenes, meanwhile Dennis was a regular alongside Scottish comedian,Frankie Boyle . In 2007 they also embarked on a tour of their comedy, in the promotional material of which they termed themselves "The Kings Of Satire."
