Notre Dame de Sion School of Kansas City was founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Sion in Kansas City, Missouri in 1912 as a Catholic school, albeit one which accepts and welcomes students of other faiths as well. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kansas City-Saint Joseph.

Campus

Notre Dame de Sion is one school with two campuses. The co-educational elementary school (Montessori preschool through 8th grade) is located in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Kansas City. The all-girls college preparatory high school in south Kansas City is located just off I-435. The school began an extensive renovation project in 2004 with improvements being made at both campuses. The high school is undergoing a massive physical update, the first since its original construction, with improvements to existing classrooms, administrative offices, a new chapel, gymnasium, and fine and performing arts center.

Notre Dame de Sion was recognized in 2007 for academic excellence by the Catholic High School Honor Roll as one of the 25 best Roman Catholic high schools in the United States.^[2]

Notable alumni

• Tory Christman, former-Scientologist & anti-Church of Scientology campaigner
• Bobby Greenlease, abducted from the school in September 1953. The kidnappers demanded $600,000 ransom, although it turned out they had already killed him. Robert Cosgrove Greenlease Sr., a wealthy business owner, paid the ransom. Carl Austin Hall and Bonnie Emily Heady were arrested for the crime, and were later executed in a gas chamber.
