Northwest High School is a public high school located in Colerain Township, Ohio, near Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. It is part of the Northwest Local School District.

The school colors are white, blue and gold. The motto is "Educating Leaders for Tomorrow". The mascot is the knight, and the sports teams are known as "The Knights."

Athletics

Northwest offers several sporting activities to students, including baseball, volleyball, softball, basketball, track and field, cross country, soccer, and football, as well as swimming, golf, bowling, tennis and wrestling.

Northwest competes in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference. All competitive sports teams from the school are Division I, except the football team, which is Division II. Their Cross Country team in the last three years has really started to come out on top, as the Lady Knights' cross country team has been crowned League Champions two years in a row working on their third straight win this year of 2009. The men's team is also highly competitive as they have finished Second in Leagues two years in a row.

Clubs and organizations

Northwest High School has a variety of clubs that many students can become involved in. Their clubs include: Green Club, Latin Club, Student Senate, Cabin Time (Christian Organization), O.A.B., and United Knights. There are also a variety of music programs including String Orchestra and Band that perform with their Marching band at home football games. They also have a choir which branches off into a Women's Ensemble that performs in the Community. For the last two years, their Women's Ensemble has been on Star64 Holiday Carols program showcasing the area's best choirs.

The school's Latin Club functions as a local chapter of both the Ohio Junior Classical League (OJCL)[3] and National Junior Classical League (NJCL).[4]

Alumni

Famous alumni include former major league baseball player Scott Sauerbeck, United States Olympian Jaycie Phelps, current Cincinnati Kings professional soccer player Seth Eckerlin, members from the band All the Day Holiday: Mark Ventura (drums) and Daniel Simmons (guitar and vocals), and ESPN commentator Lewis Johnson.

Student Senate

Northwest High School's Student Government is an organization that helps keep the school moving forward. It ranges from putting up posters, promoting spirit days, making themes from dances and celebrations. Its made up of about 100 members, with 25 members from each grade and 5 officers.
