Carole Pankau is a Republican Illinois State Senator, representing the 23rd district since 2005. Pankau previously served as State Representative from 1993 to 2005.

Pankau was the Republican nominee for Illinois State Comptroller in 2006 but lost to incumbent Democrat Dan Hynes.
