Francis Jeune, 1st Baron St Helier

Francis Henry Jeune, 1st Baron St Helier (17 March 1843 – 9 April 1905) was an English judge.

Jeune was the son of the Rt. Rev. Francis Jeune, Bishop of Peterborough and Margaret Dyne Symons.

Jeune married Susan Mary Elizabeth Stanley, the recently-widowed daughter of Keith William Stewart-Mackenzie and Hannah Charlotte Hope-Vere, on 17 August 1881.

In 1891 Francis Henry Jeune was knighted and created the 1st and last Baron St Helier of the Island of Jersey. As he had two stepdaughters but no male heir the barony/baronetcy became extinct.

Susan Stewart-Mackenzie married, firstly, Colonel John Constantine Stanley (b. 30 September 1837 - d. 23 April 1878), son of Edward Stanley, 2nd Baron Stanley of Alderley and Hon. Henrietta Maria Dillon-Lee, on 15 August 1871.

By this marriage she had two daughters.

* Madeline Cecilia Carlyle Stanley (b. 2 Jul 1876 - d. ????) m 1903 St John Brodrick
* Osma Mary Dorothy Stanley (b. 1877 - d. ????)

She married, secondly, Francis Henry Jeune, 1st and last Baron St Helier on 17 August 1881.

Susan Stewart-Mackenzie Stanley Jeune, Lady St Helier was created a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1925.

She died on 25 January 1931 of unknown causes.
