Roberto Muñoz Rodríguez (born
November 29 ,1941 inCaracas, Venezuela ) is a formerpitcher inMajor League Baseball who played for the Kansas City Athletics (1967),Oakland Athletics (1970),San Diego Padres (1970) andChicago Cubs (1970).Rodríguez carried a varied repertoire that relied on intelligence over raw explosiveness. He had a variable-speed
fastball (reaching 90 MPH), aslider , a toughcurveball , and a circlechange-up as his most effective offering.Once considered the best prospect in the Athletics' farm system, fact|date=September 2007 Rodríguez was bothered both by back and shoulder problems. After a debut in 1967, he was out for two years and made a comeback in 1970, pitching for Oakland, San Diego and the Cubs in the same season.
