Litherland High School is a school in Litherland, Sefton, Merseyside, headed Mr Jim Donnelly. The school hold specialist Language College status, teaching many languages including Spanish, Italian, French, German and Chinese. It celebrates its 60th birthday in March 2008.The high school is also part of the "Litherland Partnership", which also comprises other local primary schools including Beach Road Primary School, Lander Road Primary School and St Philips CoE Primary School, among many others

Litherland high school has recently been dubbed an "outstanding" school by Ofsted examinations.

New school proposal

The Liverpool Echo newspaper reported in October 2006 that Sefton Council had been awarded government funding to build a new school, which would merge together with Bootle High School, mainly due to falling intake numbers particularly at Bootle High School, with proposals for a Sixth form to be constructed on the Netherton site. A meeting held at the Town Hall, Bootle in May 2007 indicated the project to cost approximately £22.4m, with the new higher capacity Litherland High School to take effect from 1st September 2009. All pupils at Bootle High School would be guaranteed a place at the new Litherland High School, should the proposals be approved.
