Global ATM Alliance

The Global ATM Alliance is a joint venture of several major international banks that allows customers of the banks to use their ATM card or debit card at another bank within the Global ATM Alliance with no fees when travelling internationally. Participating banks cover Australasia, Europe, Asia and North America.

Participating banks are:
*"Bank of America" (United States)
*"Barclays" (United Kingdom (primarily England and Wales), Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar and certain countries in Africa)
*"BNP Paribas" (France)
*"China Construction Bank" (China including Hong Kong)
*"Deutsche Bank" (Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Spain and Italy)
*"Santander Serfin" (Spain and Mexico)
*"Scotiabank" (Canada, Caribbean, Chile and Mexico)
*"Westpac" (Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands)
**Westpac Banking Corporation (Australia, Fiji, Cook Islands, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu)
**Westpac New Zealand Limited (New Zealand)
**Westpac Bank - PNG - Limited (Papua New Guinea)
**Westpac Bank Samoa Limited (Samoa)
**Westpac Bank of Tonga (Tonga)

Restrictions

Bank of America indicates that an ATM can be used at participating banks, but fees are only waived within their home countries. [http://bankofamerica.via.infonow.net/locator/atmbranch/ListLoadAction.do] Outside the home country the standard fees appear to be charged. For example, Deutsche Bank ATMs in Germany are fee free, but a fee is charged at Deutsche Bank ATMs in Italy. As of June 2008, a fee is charged for Deutsche Bank ATMs in Italy, but not Spain and there is some reporting that fees are not charged in Poland. Additionally, the BNL (Banca Nazionale del Lavoro) in Italy and the TEB (Turk Ekonomi Bankasi) in Turkey, which both prominently display the BNP Paribas logo, also charge fees.fact|date=April 2008
