Midland International Records

Midland International Records

Midland International Records (later Midsong International Records) was a US record label that existed in the 1970s. It was founded in 1974 by Eddie O'Loughlin and Bob Reno.[1] Releases on the label were manufactured and distributed by RCA Records from 1974 - 1978.

Doctor's Orders by Carol Douglas, Fly, Robin, Fly and Get Up And Boogie by Silver Convention, and Let Her In by John Travolta were among the few major national successes the label released during its short existence. In 1977, legal action by Midland Radio which markets electronics using the Midland International name forced the record label to change its name to Midsong International.[2] In 1978, distribution shifted briefly to MCA Records before switching to independent distribution later that year.[3] A victim of the end of the disco music craze, it has been defunct since around 1980. Co-founder O'Loughlin then founded what is now Next Plateau Entertainment.[4] The catalog was later taken over by Hot Productions, run by music industry veteran Henry Stone.[5]
