WXRL is an AM radio station located in Lancaster, New York. The station is owned and operated by Ramblin' Lou Schriver, a well known local country music performer, under the name Dome Communications.

History

WXRL signed on in 1965 as WMMJ. The station had been founded by Stan Jasinski. Schriver purchased the station from Jasinski in 1970 and has owned it ever since.

The station has developed a comparatively small but very loyal audience. That, plus the use of paid local sports programming, has kept the station afloat.

Programs

In addition to Ramblin' Lou, who has been an on-air personality since he bought the station, local hosts include Scott Cleveland, Wayne Stone and Lynn Carol Schriver.Syndicated programs include Rick Jackson's Country Hall of Fame, Country Gold Saturday Night with Rowdy Yates Holstead, "Classic Country Today" with Keith Bilbrey and The Country Oldies Show with Steve Warren.

The station devotes a large portion of its weekend programming to polka music.

The station also airs some local sports programming and is affiliated with the St. Bonaventure University men's basketball radio network.
