Liam Barrington Connor is a fictional character from the British ITV1 soap opera "Coronation Street", played by Rob James-Collier since 2006. He is the brother of Michelle Connor and the late Paul Connor.

In September 2006, Liam bought Adam Barlow's 40% share of Underworld for £80,000. Upon his arrival he briefly romanced resident Frankie Baldwin, in a comical misunderstanding he thought that Frankie was a transsexual when in fact Hayley Cropper was the person being discussed. Liam confessed to sister Michelle the truth about the death of her late partner, Dean, revealing that during the car accident which claimed Dean's life, Paul had been driving and was thus responsible for his death. Paul and Liam had plotted to move Dean's body to the driving seat to prevent Paul from facing criminal charges. Michelle was horrified by Liam's confession and initially disowned both her brothers. Michelle later reconciled with Liam.

Liam was once in a relationship with Leanne Battersby, before discovering her secret life as a prostitute. Her secret was revealed after her services were hired by Liam's brother, Paul. Leanne was later kidnapped by Paul, and locked in his car boot. After jumping a red traffic light at a crossroads, Paul's Mercedes crashed into a skip and overturned. Paul was killed in the crash and Liam rescued Leanne from the boot of the car. Carla Connor revealed to Liam that Leanne was working as a prostitute. Despite attempts to rekindle their relationship, and Leanne's apparent continued feelings for Liam, the relationship could not survive the revelation. Liam initially took a shine to Maria Sutherland and after dumping Leanne Battersby set his sights on her. He flirted with her constantly. Just a few weeks into their relationship Maria revealed she was pregnant. Liam insisted he would support her and later on proposed after a row with Carla, and she accepted happily, however, Liam still had feelings for his sister-in-law Carla.

During a trip to the Lake District in January 2008, Liam fell down a ravine whilst trying to rescue the couple's dog, Ozzy. When Liam regained consciousness his first words were to call for Carla, which raised Maria's feelings of insecurity. Maria began to plan the couple's wedding whilst Liam was still in hospital to cement their relationship. During an argument with Carla about her new relationship, Liam kissed Carla passionately. She eventually pulled away but was left confused about her feelings for him. Liam was also confused about his feelings for Carla, and continued to interfere in her relationship with Tony Gordon, trying to split them up.

Carla attempted to create opportunities to pursue a relationship with Liam, such as hiding from him the fact that a double room rather than separate rooms had been booked for a conference they were to attend together. At the conference Liam and Carla got very close but Carla's plans were ruined when her boyfriend Tony turned up at the hotel. Prior to Liam and Maria's wedding, a further kiss ensued between Liam and Carla, but Liam still married Maria, on February 11, 2008.

Towards the end of April 2008 Maria was horrified to discover that her baby was no longer kicking. Maria was escorted to hospital without Liam beside her to receive the news that her child had died. On 30 April, she went into hospital again and gave birth to the deceased infant - she had decided that Liam should not know about the end of her pregnancy. After the birth and death of the couple's baby boy, the newly-married couple had an argument which climaxed in Maria declaring that the marriage was over just under three months into it. With Maria walking out on him Liam went into a short depression and sought comfort in Carla, sleeping with her. He and Maria are now considering a new baby on their return. On 16 June 2008, Carla blackmailed him into selling his share of the factory to Tony. He signed over his 40% share for ₤180,000 pounds in an attempt to keep the truth of his infidelity from Maria.

Liam and his cousin, Tom later planned to start a new business together, but Tom failed to obtain 50k to begin. This eventually led Carla into the situation, making her part of the business, which made Liam feel frustrated and was furious with Tom, although he did not tell Maria about the situation. It was evident that Liam still had strong feelings for his old flame.

Liam's Demise

It was revealed on 3 February 2008, that Rob James-Collier would be leaving "Coronation Street" after two years with the soap, and reported in April 2008 that Liam's departure would see the arrival of the Connor's cousin Tom Kerrigan, who would take over as boss of the factory. Tom had been previously seen at Liam's stag party in February 2008. The killer was later revealed to be Tony after he discovered his and Carla's affair after Rosie tried to seduce Tony and revealed the video footage of Liam and Carla kissing at her flat, Tony disposed of the mobile into a canal after blue-toothing the footage onto his own, he now seeks a revenge scheme and has recently seen Carla and Liam kiss yet again. On 1 October 2008 Tony took Carla, Liam and Maria to the lakes on a weekend away. On 3 October, Liam and Tony stood at the edge of a cave cliff with Liam clearly very anxious as it brought back memories of his fall in the Lake District some months earlier. Tony asked Liam to be his best man much to Liam's surprise as they hugged Tony jokingly said that he was going to push Liam over the edge, an ominous sign of Liam's fate. It was revealed that Liam would be killed with 3 different brutal murders being filmed, and only 1 being televised. The 3 deaths are as follows:

*Shot by a real gun at Tony's stag night paintballing match
*Pushed from a high balcony at one of Tony's Victoria Street Flats, also on Tony's stag night
*And finally ran over by an unidentified car driven by Tony on his stag night, if this death is televised, Liam will die in Tony's arms.

On October 10, 2008, upon seeing Carla in her wedding dress, Liam reignited his passion with her as they slept together once more.
