The Luxembourgian cricket team is the team that represents the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in international cricket matches. They became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council in 1998. Their international debut came in 2003, when they participated in the European Affiliates championship, finishing last in the eleven team tournament. In 2006, Luxembourg took part in Division Four of the European Championship in Belgium, beating Finland, losing narrowly to Slovenia, and losing in the last over against Cyprus. The team has up to now played its home matches at the Pierre Werner Cricket Ground in Walferdange, home of the Optimists Cricket Club. There is a second ground, the Schuman Oval, in Evrange with a Notts Sport pitch funded by the E.C.C. in late 2005. The ground was not used in 2006 due to the terrible weather and lack of a groundsman. Five matches were played here in 2007, however, and the facilities are set to improve (the E.C.C. funded a moveable cage for 2008).
