Ettenmoors

The Ettenmoors are highlands in J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional world of Middle-earth, west of the Misty Mountains and north of the Coldfells. It was a location of warfare between the forces of Gondor and Angmar in the Third Age when the Witch King fled after losing the battle of Fornost. In , The Ettenmoors is the main base of the goblins, and the home of Gorkil the Goblin King. Glorfindel and Glóin lead an attack on the goblin fortress and destroyed it.

In , the Ettenmoors are one of the high-level areas of the game where Monster Players and ordinary players must fight to control several settlements throughout the region. It is the location of a large army of orcs, goblins, and wargs. The area is considered to be one of the best locations for endgame content for the ordinary players, who are allied with the Free Peoples guards who oppose the Monster Players.

imilar usage

The novelist C. S. Lewis depicted a similarly-named region called Ettinsmoor in Narnia. The word "Etten" comes from an Old English word ("Eoten") meaning giant or monster.

Also, an Etten is a two-headed giant in the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game.
