The 2003 Red Square bombing was the 9 December 2003 suicide bombing near Red Square in Moscow.

According to police, female suicide bomber set off a explosive belt on a busy street in the heart of the city, only a few hundred metres from the Moscow Kremlin, killing six people and injuring 44. Moscow's mayor Yuri Luzhkov reported rumours that the bomb was intended for the Moscow City Hall, or State Duma, further up the road. According to the investigation [ [http://www.kommersant.ru/doc.aspx?docsid=496533 Widow does not come alone, Kommersant, August 10, 2004] ] , the suicide bomber was identified as Khadishat Mangerieva, a widow of a Chechen rebel commander of Kurchaloyevsky District, Ruslan Mangeriev, who was killed during the Second Chechen War.
