John D. Blackburn

Born in Cullercoats, Northumberland in 1949, the second son of Thomas and Mary Blackburn, he is a graduate of the London School of Economics (1971), scholarship holder at the Institut für Höhere Studien und Wissenschaftliche Forschung, Vienna and fellow of the University of Birmingham. Co-author of "Data in Geography" (1978, 1979), a series of 23 short books, published by Longman Group Limited now Pearson Education Limited. Editorial Director of "Faxtel International Inc" where he was author and compiler of "Growth and Perspectives", a series of 17 financial studies on British industry, of which the data sections of "The British Brewing Industry" (1982), "The British Cosmetics and Toiletries Industry" (1983), "The British Pharmaceutical Industry" (1984), "The British Weighing Industry" (1989) and "Manufacturers and Suppliers of Industrial and Road Trailers" (no date) are housed in the British Library, London.
