volcano is still active, evidenced by the numeroushot springs andfumarole s, but the lasteruption occurred approximately 2000 years ago.The volcano is an important source of
energy for the south of the country, which is especially put to use at theNesjavellir power station . The power station is located at the western shore of the lakeÞingvallavatn .The area with its mountains and
