Soviet Second League B

Soviet Second League B

The Soviet Second League B was the fourth highest division of Soviet football, below the Soviet Second League. The division lasted for only 6 seasons (several years at the inception of Soviet league football in 1936 as the "Group G" and during the last few years of the Soviet Union).

In 1990, the league was recreated to contain the 9 regional zones that were previously a part of Soviet Second League, and an additional 10th zone (as well as replacement teams for those previously-promoted were added). The winners of the zones would qualify for the Soviet Second League. Most notably, the 1st Zone represented teams from the Ukrainian SSR, 2nd Zone represented teams from the Armenian SSR, 3rd Zone represented teams from the Azeri SSR, 8th Zone represented teams from the Kazakh SSR, and the 9th Zone represented teams from the Uzbek SSR.
