Cordeaux School is a secondary modern school on North Holme Road in Louth, Lincolnshire, England. Cordeaux School - A Specialist Engineering College currently is ranked 46th out of 73 in the 2009 Lincolnshire County League Table.

Cordeaux School has 26 feeder schools from the surrounding area, and its partner secondary school is King Edward VI Grammar School (Louth), which is the local Grammar School. Over 50% of Cordeaux's pupils travel to the school by bus from outlying areas.

History

The school is named after Captain Edward Cawdron Cordeaux (born 24 July 1894, Caistor), a surgeon who lived in Louth. He reached the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy in 1934, when he left the Navy, then the rank of Captain in 1940 in World War II. He gained an OBE in 1941. He became High Sheriff of Lincolnshire before he died on 8 June 1963.

Cordeaux School first opened to the public in September 1956, being officially opened on October 10, 1957 as High Holme Road Secondary School until 1965 its name was changed to Cordeaux High School then renamed again to Cordeaux School.

The Wolds College is situated next door.

The school

Cordeaux is a ‘community’ school catering for pupils aged 11–19, it is a smaller than average size school in an area where there are selective grammar schools. It has 550 pupils of whom 70 are in the Sixth form. We have 39 teachers and an array of support, technical and administrative staff to ensure the smooth running of the school.

The school is on a very pleasant and extensive site with a full range of facilities including playing fields, sports hall, gym, music and practice rooms, Design & Technology areas, 6 Science laboratories and a highly praised ‘Learning Support Department,’ and temporary sixth form block. There has been considerable investment in ICT and the school now has two specialist rooms for ICT lessons and extensive access to ICT across the school including 16 interactive whiteboards which bring greater interest and excitement to lessons. A further £100,000 of investment during this school year will see the creation of a ‘Virtual Learning Environment.’

College status has helped make even more improvements to facilities with newly refurbished Science laboratory, Food Technology and Art rooms as well as the installation of modern ‘state of the art’ CAD/CAM and Engineering equipment.

The current headmaster is Peter Kubicki.

Academic performance

The school gets reasonable results at GCSE.

Examination results have risen consistently and impressively in recent years. the school achieved it best ever GCSE results in Summer 2002 and again in 2004, 2006 and 2008. The school’s popularity has grown and pupil numbers have risen rapidly. Our Sixth form has trebled in size in recent years and now offers a very broad range of courses in partnership with other providers, although A levels are no longer offered at the cordeaux site.

Cordeaux School has gained Special Engineering College status in 2004 and is currently in a partnership with Siemens.

Academy Status

In Sept 2011 it was announced that Cordeaux School and Wolds College will join with Monks Dyke Technology College and Tennyson High School in Mablethorpe to form one single organisation under the Local Authority. The option of becoming an Academy was rejected.
