Grigory Landsberg graduated from Moscow University in 1913. His primary scientific contribution was in the fields of optics and spectroscopy. He was a co-discoverer of inelastic scattering of light used in Raman spectroscopy.

Vitae

In 1913, and graduated from Moscow Anthony ibid. taught in 1913-1915, 1923-45, 1947-51 (with Professor 1923). In 1951-57 Professor of the Moscow Institute of Physics. Since 1934 he worked in the Physical in-te USSR. Major works on optics and spectroscopy. In 1926 the first time and highlighted studied Molecular scattering of light in crystals. In 1928, together with L. I. Mandelstam opened phenomenon combination of light (in conjunction with C. V. Raman and K. S. Krishnanom), spotted a thin line isotropic structure, and in 1931 the phenomenon of selective scattering of light.

Spectroscopy has begun domestic organic molecules and examine intra-and Casimir interactions in gas, liquid and solid bodies. Methods Developed by spectral analysis of metals and alloys (USSR State Prize, 1941), as well as complex mixtures of organic, including motor fuel. The author of the famous course optics, editor of the popular "Elementarnogo physics textbook" (ie 1-3, 7 ed. , 1971).

Founder and Chairman of the spectroscopy.

Created school atomic and molecular spectral analysis. He was awarded two Orders of Lenin, as well as medals.
