Larton is a
hamlet , located next toFrankby and near toWest Kirby , on theWirral Peninsula ,Merseyside ,England . The name is ofViking origin, deriving from theOld Norse "Leir-tun", meaning 'Clay farmstead'. citebook|last=Sulley|first=Philip|title=The Wirral Hundred|date=1889 ] Larton was formerly known as part of 'Newton-cum-Larton' , which was part of West Kirbyparish of theWirral Hundred . Its population was 49 in 1801 and 44 in 1851.
