Chris Kohler is a video game journalist and editor who has written for several publications in the past decade, including "Wired", "Animerica", "Official Nintendo Magazine" and "1UP.com". He is also a published author of two books. His first book, "", was published by Brady Games on 2004-09-14. Kohler graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts in May 2002, receiving a BA in Japanese and earned the Japanese Language and Literature Prize. His graduation thesis was titled "The Cinematic Japanese Video Game" and earned highest honors. In 2001, he was elected into Phi Beta Kappa. After graduation Kohler attended Kyoto Seika University on a Fulbright Fellowship, and completed major research for a book tentatively titled "Super Mario Nation: The Cinematic Japanese Video Game" (which was later retitled and published as his first book). At Tufts, he taught a for-credit undergraduate course titled "A History of Video Games".

Kohler occasionally posts his thrifting finds on Game|Life, and is a regular contributor to 1UP's [http://retronauts.1up.com/ Retronauts] , a retro gaming podcast.
